Peripheral Artery Disease

Peripheral Artery Disease

This buildup—called plaque—narrows your arteries, often reducing or blocking the flow of blood. Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is most commonly seen in the legs, but also can be present in the arteries that carry blood from your heart to your head, arms, kidneys and stomach. Nearly everyone who has PAD, even those who do not have leg symptoms, suffer from an inability to walk as fast or as far as they could before PAD. In all, PAD affects 8 to 12 million people in the United States, especially those that are 50 and older. If you are diagnosed with PAD, the sooner you are treated, the lower your risk of the disease progressing. Talk to Dr. Lawrence Semel about minimally invasive treatment options.

Port or PICC Line Placement

If you are receiving treatment such as chemotherapy, it may involve frequent injections and the need for accessible veins. A port or PICC placement can help make these procedures more comfortable for you, especially if your treatment requires frequent access to the bloodstream for medication delivery or blood withdrawal. Talk to Dr. Lawrence Semel about how you can spare your veins from frequent needle sticks.

Varicose Vein Treatment

Varicose Vein Treatment

Varicose veins are chronic and recurrent conditions. The variety of treatments available does not offer a cure, but rather a control of the condition. Successfully treated veins cannot come back. However, your inborn tendency to develop new veins will not be cured by this or any other form of treatment. Dr’s. Palchik and Blackwood treat venous insufficiency completely, removing all backward-flowing veins, making your treatment for varicose veins as thorough as possible.

"Our experience was excellent. My 87 year old mother is always accompanied by one of her daughters, and our experience over several visits has been excellent. The staff knows her when she comes, cares for her in a professional and efficient manner but always in a loving and personal way. Her nurses have always been excellent. The radiology tech has been at each visit and always cared for her well-acknowledging her independence and recognizing her frailty and medical challenges. Two of her daughters are RNs, and her other daughter is also a medical professional. We recognize excellent care when we experience it. This staff provides it in a caring, individualized manner. Thanks to them all."
